A Moment in Biblical Literacy: The Gospel

If you were asked to explain the "Gospel" and locate it in the Bible could you?

1 Corinthians 15:1-4  

¹ Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,  ² by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.  ³ For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,  ⁴ and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

The Gospel is the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross to save me from my sins and to save you from yours. He was buried and three days later He was raised from the dead. All according to the promises of God found in the Bible and all to make our Salvation possible (Psalm 16, Psalm 22and Isaiah 53).

 

What is the Gospel?

1)      Jesus’ Death for our sin

2)      Jesus’ Burial

3)      Jesus’ Resurrection  

·         Jesus said the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the Gospel (Mark 1:15).

·         The Bible says in Romans 10:9, confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised Him from the Dead and you will be saved.
